Riara University’s Partnership with IFC on Employability
Employability Program Launch
IFC and Riara University have launched a new partnership under the Vitae Employability Program, aimed at strengthening graduate employability and fostering entrepreneurship in Kenya.
The collaboration was officially announced at a ceremony in Nairobi attended by Professor Robert Gateru, Vice Chancellor of Riara University; IFC’s Advisory Services Manager for Southern Africa, Samuel Nganga; and senior university leadership. The event also featured a symbolic tree planting to highlight Riara’s commitment to sustainability.
Focus on Employability and Entrepreneurship
The partnership will address two critical themes for the region’s Jobs and Skills agenda:
- Employability – equipping graduates with the skills, experience, and connections they need to succeed in the labor market.
- Entrepreneurship – fostering innovation and enterprise among students to drive economic growth.
Through IFC’s Vitae Employability 360° Assessment Tool, Riara University will strengthen its academic programs to better align with labor market needs, support students in building career skills, and connect them with employers. Since its launch in 2019, Vitae has supported over 2.5 million students at more than 200 institutions worldwide, bridging the gap between education and employment.
A Strong Track Record in Education and Sustainability
Riara University’s commitment to student success is reflected in its 2025 strategy, which prioritizes employability. The institution is also an active participant in IFC’s Gender E3 Program, a capacity-building and peer-learning initiative promoting gender equality, and has invested in the IFC EDGE-certified Konza Technopolis Campus, underscoring its focus on green sustainability.
“The ultimate beneficiaries of our partnership are the thousands of Riara graduates who will be better placed to use their skills and follow their dreams in jobs they aspire to. In the long run, this is also good news for Kenya’s private sector and economic growth,” said Samuel Nganga.
Part of a Growing Network
By joining the Vitae Employability Program, Riara University becomes part of a global network of institutions committed to bridging the gap between education and employment, and to preparing the next generation of ethical African leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs.
A formal press release with additional details and photos from the launch event will be shared soon.
